MARLBORO, N.J. – Boise State junior gymnast Emily Lopez was named a regular-season All-America Second-Team honoree on the uneven bars, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced, Thursday morning. She finished the regular season ranked tied for 14th in the country in the event with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.935.
Lopez is just the 12th Bronco gymnast in program history to earn All-America honors and the seventh student-athlete to achieve the accolade on bars. It is the fourth-consecutive year Boise State has produced an All-America gymnast on bars, as former Bronco standout Emily Mulenhaupt was named to the first team from 2020-22.
The Mission Viejo, Calif., native scored the first 10.000 on bars in both Boise State and Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference history against BYU (Feb. 17). She is just the third gymnast in conference history to register a perfect score and the fifth Bronco all-time to achieve a 10.000.
Lopez was dubbed the MRGC Bars Specialist of the Year and Co-Vault Specialist of the Year following the MRGC Championships (March 18). She also secured first-team all-league status on bars for the third-straight year and achieved her first first-team recognition on vault.
Next, Boise State gears up for its NCAA Regional Championships in Los Angeles. The Broncos will compete in the first round against conference-foe BYU, March 29 at 3 p.m. MT.
