Bronco Quartet Earns MRGC Weekly Awards

LOGAN, Utah – Four Boise State gymnasts collected MRGC Specialist of the Week Awards following their performances at Minnesota (March 4), the conference announced Monday.

Junior Emily Lopez (bars), sophomore Alyssa Vulaj (beam), senior Adriana Popp (beam) and junior Courtney Blackson (floor) represented the Broncos in the week nine awards.

Lopez captured her fourth-consecutive nod on bars and sixth weekly accolade this season on the apparatus, posting a 9.900 and sharing the event title with a pair of Gophers.

Vulaj and Popp led Boise State's beam team that tallied an event total of 49.425, tying the fifth-highest score in program history. The duo bookended the Broncos' beam lineup, securing career-high scores of 9.950 and sharing the event title. Included on Popp's score sheet was a perfect 10.000.

Blackson matched her career-best performance with a 9.925 on floor, garnering weekly recognition along with BYU's Sophie Dudley and Southern Utah's Karley McClain.

Next, Boise State travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for its last meet before the MRGC Championships, competing against No. 8 Alabama. The Broncos and the Crimson Tide are scheduled to face off at 6 p.m. MT at Coleman Coliseum.
