Three Bronco Pairs Earn All-Conference Honors

FRISCO, Texas – Three pairs from the Boise State beach volleyball team were named first-team all-conference by the Southland, the league announced, Thursday.

Emilia Guerra-Acuña and Lily Patock were recognized as the league's top No. 3 pair, Kaylee Mejia and Elli Wolthuis as the top duo at the No. 4 position and Joey Benson and Aris Vetter were named the top tandem on the No. 5 court.
The all-conference accolades mark the first postseason honors the team has received in program history. Boise State joined the Southland Conference as affiliate members in June 2022.
Each of the two all-conference teams consists of a pair from each of the five positions and were voted upon by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Guerra-Acuña and Patock were the first-team pair at the No. 3 position. The duo teamed up midway through the season, finishing 11-2 on the No. 3 court and 12-4 overall. The tandem notched six wins against Pac-12 opponents, including a 21-19, 21-19 victory over No. 13 Washington, and have won seven of their last 11 matches. As a pair, they have won the second-most matches at the No. 3 spot in a single-season in program history.
Mejia and Wolthuis were named the first-team pair at the No. 4 position, finishing the season with a 12-2 record at the No. 4 position and a 12-3 overall record. The duo was also paired together midway through the season and won their first 11 matches on the No. 4 court. The pair broke the program's single-season record for wins as a pair at the No. 4 position and tied the career record.
Benson and Vetter captured first-team honors at the No. 5 position. The duo finished 13-3 on the year, all on Court No. 5. The pair is currently on a seven-match win streak, including two road wins over No. 13 Washington at the Husky Invitational. With 13 wins, Benson and Vetter broke the program-record for single-season wins for a pair at the No. 5 position and tied the career-record.
The Broncos will compete in postseason play for the first time in program history, April 21, at the Southland Conference Championship. The No. 3 Broncos will face off against No. 6 San Jose State at 9 a.m. MT, Friday, in the first round of the double-elimination tournament.
