Boise State Athletics Seeking High Schools for Mental Health Initiative
Selected schools will receive guidance and resources to launch campaign
Â
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Athletics is seeking four state-wide high schools to participate in the inaugural BroncoBOLD High School Ambassador Program. The three-year program is designed to provide the education and tools to support motivated high school students and administrators to become active leaders and advocates of mental health on their campus and in their community.
Â
Through a grant from the locally-based Holland M. Ware Charitable Foundation, Bronco Athletics will provide four high schools direct mentorship from Boise State student-athletes and department advisors who will provide educational resources and guidance to equip each school with best practices and the skills needed to grow a successful mental health program.
Â
In addition to the educational resources, each high school will have the opportunity to apply for up to $2,500 in qualifying goods, supplies, equipment, and mental health programming for their school's counseling office, and up to $1,500 in qualifying goods and services to launch their own mental health campaign.
Â
"We are excited to partner with local schools to share mental health best practices, tools, and resources," said Stephanie Donaldson, Director, Athletic Performance & Psychology at Boise State Athletics. "When a high school becomes a BroncoBOLD Ambassador they become part of a network of passionate individuals and agents of change."
Â
In addition to the direct programming for students, Bronco Athletics will provide Teen Mental Health First Aid Certification workshops and ongoing educational opportunities and resources for staff and administrators.
Â
Each school will be assigned one Boise State student-athlete from the BroncoBOLD Leadership Committee and one Boise State BroncoBOLD staff advisor to serve as consultants.
Â
Launched in the fall of 2019, BroncoBOLD is a student-athlete mental health awareness initiative comprised of three pillars:Â reduce stigma, raise awareness, and cultivate resiliency in order to spread a message of hope and help to the entire campus and greater community.
Â
Applications are due via online submission by May 22, 2023 at 5 p.m. (MT)
