HONOLULUÂ - Boise State running back George Holani has been named to the watch list for the 2023 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award, the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced on Thursday.
Â
The award is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry that epitomizes great ability and integrity. Holani earned a spot on the list for the second straight year.
Holani started all 13 games in which he appeared and was named All-MW Second Team a season ago, leading the team with 1,157 yards and scoring 10 rushing touchdowns. The Bellflower, Calif., native added 151 yards receiving on 24 receptions and caught three touchdowns. Â
He surpassed 100 yards in six games in 2022, highlighted by a career-high 157-yard effort in a 40-20 win against Fresno State on Oct. 8. He also accumulated a career-high 225 all-purpose yards in Boise State's 30-7 win against UT Martin on Sept. 17.
