Women's Golf Concludes Season-Opening Tournament in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Boise State women's golf concluded competition at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on Tuesday at the UNM Championship Course. The Broncos finished 15th with a team score of 897. In the first and third rounds, Boise State shot 296. Freshman Teal Matsueda led the way, shooting 220 in her first collegiate event, including a 72 in her first round. Senior Elli Gordon matched that score in the final round, giving her a score of 224 that was second on the squad.

  • "For two of the three rounds, we were right in the mix. We need to learn how to put that together for an entire event," said head coach Kailin Downs.
  • "It was a fantastic debut tournament for Teal and I'm excited to see what else she can accomplish," continued Downs. "There were a lot of positives to take from this week, especially as a team with a lot of opportunities ahead of us this season!"
