Ian Johnson to Raise Blue Chaos Flag

BOISE, Idaho – Former Boise State running back Ian Johnson will raise the Blue Chaos flag ahead of No. 15/19 Boise State's contest against San Diego State, Friday night.
Johnson (2005-08) is known nationwide for his contribution to the Broncos' first Fiesta Bowl in 2007. He was a key member of the Boise State squad that defeated Oklahoma in that game, converting the game-winning two-point conversion in overtime on a Statue of Liberty play to complete a 13-0 season.
He finished in eighth place in Heisman Trophy voting that season, was named an All-American by Sports Illustrated andCBSSports.com, and was a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award. Johnson finished the season atop the NCAA in scoring with 25 touchdowns.
"It is such a great honor to get to raise the Blue Chaos flag," Johnson said. "That flag represents all of us as Bronco fans and is a symbol we can all look to and take pride in. To raise that symbol is extremely special."
One of the most decorated running backs in program history, Johnson (2005-08) is all over the Bronco record books. He is the program leader in career touchdowns (58), second in career rushing yards (4,183), and fifth in career yards per game (85.4).
"To me there is no place like The Blue and Albertsons Stadium," Johnson said. "When I first got here we did everything here. I got here in the summer early and went straight to running the upper decks. I sweat and bled on this field for five years. It's home."

BOISE STATE FOOTBALL
Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
