BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Head Volleyball Coach Shawn Garus announced today the names of his 2025 recruiting class. The group of four high school standouts includes Sydney Dreves (Vancouver, Washington), Hallee Heath (St. George, Utah), Giselle Paedon (San Jose, California), and Reese Weinert (Dana Point, California). Two of the recruits, Heath and Weinert, will enroll at Boise State this January.
Â
Shawn Garus' thoughts on Dreves, "Sydney loves to compete. She's been a successful outside hitter in club and high school, and we think she can also be an elite libero. Sydney has excellent ball control skills and plays aggressive defense. She has always played up in older age groups with her OJVA club teams, which will help her compete right away as a freshman." Â
Â
Shawn Garus' thoughts on Heath, "Hallee is a well-rounded multi-sport athlete. She's got the size and athleticism you need to be a shutdown blocker in college. We loved her instincts on the court and how she finds a way to make plays for her team. Hallee will graduate early and enroll at Boise State in January. Can't wait to see what she can do this spring when she focuses solely on volleyball." Â
Â
Shawn Garus' thoughts on Paedon, "Giselle is a talented outside hitter. We identified her early in the recruiting process as the type of athlete we like to have in our gym. She's long and athletic with unlimited potential. She also plays for an elite volleyball club that trains very well and competes at a high level."Â
Â
Shawn Garus' thoughts on Weinert, "Reese is an exciting middle blocker recruit. She played in high school for former Team USA middle blocker Tom Hoff. Reese is well-trained and has a really fast arm. Her all-around skills stood out when I watched her practice with her A4 club team. Really excited for her to join us in January to prepare for next season." Â

Sydney Dreves
Sydney Dreves is currently a senior at Columbia River High School in Vancouver, Washington, where she has been a four-year starter for coach Breanne Smedley's varsity squad. The outside hitter was recently named the Greater St. Helen's League Player of the Year as a senior. She is also a three-time all-state, all-region, and first-team all-conference honoree, with most senior-year accolades yet to be announced. She has helped CRHS to a combined 63-1 league record and 107-7-2 overall mark in four years, as well as four consecutive GSHL titles and three Washington State 2A Championships. She plays her club ball for the OJVA in Beaverton, Oregon, coached by Kalani Efstathiou.Â

With senior year accolades yet to be announced, the middle blocker is a two-time all-state and all-region honoree. During her three-year varsity team career, she helped DHHS to a 31-5 league record, an 87-39 overall mark, and two consecutive conference championships as a junior and senior. The Thunder also advanced to three straight 4A state tournaments. Heath plays her club volleyball for the Red Rock Heat out of St. George, Utah, for coach Robyn Felder.Â

She helped the BHS Bruins to a combined 43-3 league mark and a 103-24 overall record in her four-year career. Paedon led the team to four-consecutive league titles, two CIF CCS Division I Championships and two runners-up finishes.
