Dalmas Nominated for Burlsworth Trophy

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State kicker Jonah Dalmas is a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, the foundation announced. The fifth year began his Boise State career with a two-week walk-on tryout and has since set the program and Mountain West records for points (478) and field goals (90).
Dalmas joined the Broncos in 2020 and was awarded a scholarship halfway through his freshman year. In 2021, he led the country and set a Boise State single-season record with 26 made field goals. His career-long of 56 yards, achieved in 2023, ties the program record. This season, he ranks fourth in the country with 44 successful PAT.
The Idaho native ranks fourth in FBS history in field goals (90) and field goal percentage (89.1). Dalmas needs eight field goals to set the all-time FBS record. He is a four-time All-MW selection and two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist. This season, he is one of four Boise State team captains.
The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in the country who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field. Each nominee must have begun his first season of participation with an FBS football program without financial aid of any kind from his university's athletic department.
No. 12/14/12 Boise State (7-1, 4-0 MW) hosts Nevada (3-7, 0-4 MW) on Nov. 9 for another sellout at Albertsons Stadium. The Broncos and Wolf Pack will kick off at 6 p.m. with the game airing nationally on FOX.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
