Broncos Run Past Fresno State, 90-66

2/17/2024 8:26:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BOISE, Idaho – O'Mar Stanley's basket 15 second into the game was the only play Boise State needed to get a lead over Fresno State. From there, the Broncos cruised to a 90-66 win over the visiting Bulldogs, Saturday at ExtraMile Arena.

The Broncos (17-8, 8-4 MW) led for 39:45 on the evening, behind 24 points from junior forward Tyson Degenhart.

Fresno State (11-15, 4-9 MW) made 11 3-pointers – one more than Boise State – and pulled within four points on an Xavier DuSell 3-pointer to cap a 5-0 run. The Bulldogs would never get closer on the scoreboard than that, as five points from Degenhart and Stanley in a 51 second span swung the contest firmly in Boise State's favor.

Nine Broncos scored in the game, led by 66 points from the quartet of Degenhart, Stanley, Max Rice and Chibuzo Agbo.

Quotables
  • "When we have everyone shooting well it really builds the team's confidence, especially for our bench guys because they're as important as the starters," said Tyson Degenhart. "They played really good minutes tonight and it'll be important to have them playing like that in the future."
  • "The break was beneficial, but it felt weird when we went from two days or three days of play to all of a sudden a week off, it felt like a month," said head coach Leon Rice. "To our guys' credit we had two great practices, so I wasn't surprised that they performed the way that they did (tonight)."
