LAS VEGAS – An All-American and the only first round NBA draft pick in program history were named to the Mountain West's 25th Season Men's Basketball Team, the league announced before the start of the 2024 Mountain West Men's Basketball Championship.
Derrick Marks (2011-15) and Chandler Hutchison (2014-18) were both named to the team.
The team was selected by the MW 25th Season Committee as the conference celebrates its excellence on and off the field of play.
Derrick Marks
A four-year starter for the Broncos, Marks is the only player in program history to garner All-America recognition – he earned honorable mention honors from the Associated Press in 2015-16.
His banner senior campaign saw him named the Mountain West Player of the Year while leading Boise State to the regular season title and the NCAA Tournament. Marks scored 621 points, good for No. 4 in school history, and averaged 19.4 points per game. His 21.3 points per game in conference play led the Mountain West.
Marks' 1,922 points still ranks fourth in program history. His 10, 30-point games in his career were No. 3 in Mountain West history at the conclusion of his playing career and set a program record. Marks earned All-Mountain West recognition all four years of his career.
Chandler Hutchison
A two-time All-Mountain West first team selection, Hutchison was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 22nd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft – the only first round draft pick in program history.
The media voted him the conference's player of the year in 2017-18 on top of being named to the All-Mountain West first team, all-defensive team and to the NABC and USBWA VIII all-district teams. He was named to the 10-pearson Jerry West Award midseason watch list and averaged 20.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game that season.
He is one of four players in program history to have averaged 20.0 points per game over the course of a season.
Against Portland on Dec. 1, Hutchison tallied the only known triple-double in program history with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Hutchison ended his career tied as the all-time wins leader for a Bronco with 87 wins, and his 1,478 points and 672 rebounds are ninth and sixth, respectively.
