Bronco standout has nine preseason All-America nods

BOISE, Idaho – The awards keep accumulating for Ashton Jeanty. The Boise State running back collected preseason All-America honors from four outlets this week, extending the Heisman candidate's total to nine.

Jeanty was named a first team running back by The Athletic and a second team running back by Action Network and CBS Sports. ESPN tabbed him second team as an all-purpose player and ranked him 25th of its list of top 100 college football players.

He was joined by kicker Jonah Dalmas on The Athletic's first team, making the duo the only Group of 5 players on the first team. Boise State was the lone G5 school with multiple selections by The Athletic. Jeanty was one of two G5 players recognized by CBS Sports and the lone representative from the Mountain West. He was the top G5 player and second-highest running back on ESPN's top 100 list.

In 2023, Jeanty ran the ball 220 times for 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns while tallying 43 receptions for 567 yards and five touchdowns. He led the nation in yards from scrimmage per game (159.67) and was third in all-purpose yards despite missing two games. He was named All-America by six outlets and was crowned MW Offensive Player of the Year.

In addition to his nine All-America honors, Jeanty has a multitude of preseason awards. He was featured on the watch lists for the Biletnikoff, Doak Walker, Maxwell and Walter Camp Awards. The MW tabbed him Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and he garnered Preseason All-MW selection from five organizations.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
