BOISE, Idaho – Jackie Robinson has joined the Boise State women's basketball staff as an assistant coach, head coach Gordy Presnell announced on Tuesday.

Robinson, who spent the past five seasons as the head women's basketball coach at Evergreen State, will be the fourth assistant coach on staff. He will join assistants Heather Sower, Cariann Ramirez and Mike Petrino.

"We are really excited about Jackie joining our staff," Presnell said. "He is going to be a great addition to our program and will impact our student-athletes in many ways. He will be a tremendous help in our recruiting efforts and we can't wait for him to get started."

Robinson began coaching Evergreen State prior to the 2019-20 season, inheriting a program coming off a 2-22 season. He rebuilt the program, leading the Geoducks to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament in each of the past two seasons.

Prior to his time at Evergreen State, he was the head women's basketball coach at Olympia High School in Olympia, Wash. He compiled a 51-44 record and earned two Coach of the Year honors. He also spent four seasons as the head coach at River Ridge High School in Lacey, Wash., also notching two Coach of the Year awards. In his eight years as a high school coach, Robinson went 122-75.

He also brings a wealth of playing experience with him, playing for two seasons at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala. before finishing his career at Evergreen State. With the Geoducks, he earned all-conference honorable-mention honors during the 2000-01 campaign averaging 8.8 points per game. He helped lead the program to its first NAIA National Tournament his senior year, netting 6.7 points per game.

After graduating from Evergreen State in 2002, Robinson played professionally in Germany and Switzerland before getting his start in women's basketball as a coach upon his retirement.

"It has always been a dream of mine to coach at Boise State in a program with such great tradition," Robinson said. "I'm extremely thankful to Coach Presnell for the opportunity, and I'm looking forward to working with Coach Sower, Coach Ramirez and Coach Petrino as well as the players. I'm extremely pumped for the opportunity to be a part of the Bronco family."

Robinson will come to Boise alongside his wife, Kelci and his two children, Kienan and Cinaiya. He joins a squad fresh off a 21-win campaign a season ago and an appearance in the Women's National Invitational Tournament.
