BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's golf head coach David Trainor has announced a pair of additions to the program ahead of the 2024-25 season. Jake Slocum – a native of Meridian, Idaho – returns to the Treasure Valley as a transfer from Iowa State, while Reese Knox joins as an incoming freshman from Peyton, Colo.

Jake Slocum
Redshirt Senior
Meridian, Idaho (Rocky Mountain HS/Iowa State)

Slocum spent four years with the Cyclones and was thrice named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selections in 2022.

He redshirted his freshman season in 2020-21, and as a redshirt freshman in 2021-22, Slocum averaged 75.47 strokes per round across seven tournaments. He shot a career-low of 69 in the final round at the Colleton River Collegiate. In 2022-23 he appeared in three rounds at the Big 12 Match Play Championship and also appeared at the Gopher Invitational.

Slocum posted an outstanding prep career at Rocky Mountain HS. He won the 2019 Idaho Class 5A State Championship in his junior season and was a member of two team state titles (2018, 2019). On the junior amateur level, Slocum competed at the 2019 U.S. Junior Amateur and the IMG Junior World Championships. He also logged three, top-10 finishes while competing in AJGA events.

His sister, Kaitlyn, is a sophomore on the Boise State women's soccer team.

Reese Knox
Freshman
Peyton, Colo. (Falcon HS)

Knox arrives at Boise State from Colorado. He picked up his first AGJA win in July 2023 at the Stan Utley Championships, coming back from a three-stroke deficit entering the final round to shoot 6-under 66 to pick up his first AGJA win.

He also picked up top-10 finishes this year at the Colorado Amateur Championship (fifth) and the Memorial Amateur Championship (seventh).

As a prep standout, Knox helped expand the Falcon program to field a full roster and was a mainstay at the 4A state championships. He finished 11th as a sophomore, second as a junior and tied for sixth as a senior.
