Broncos Collect Three Mountain West Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Emily Lopez, Kristina Shchennikova and Alyssa Vulaj each received a Mountain West Specialist of the Week accolade following their performances against No. 15 Georgia (Jan. 17) and at the Wasatch Classic (Jan. 20).
 
The honor is awarded to the highest-scoring athlete in each event weekly.
 
Lopez was named Bars Specialist of the Week after taking home the event title at the Wasatch Classic. She recorded a 9.925, the first 9.900 or higher on the season for the Broncos. This marks the 11th weekly MW honor of her career and seventh on bars.
 
Shchennikova earned Co-Freshman of the Week for the first time in her career as she put up a career-high 9.850 at the Wasatch Classic. She placed third overall at the meet and put up the highest score on the apparatus among all freshmen.
 
Vulaj was tabbed Co-Vault Specialist of the Week with a 9.850 on the event against No. 15 Georgia. She was named vault champion at the meet, marking the first of the season and fourth of her career. Vulaj also notched the first weekly MW honor of her career.
 
The Broncos return to action Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. MT as they head to San Jose, Calif., for a quad meet. Boise State will take on San Jose State, Sacramento State and UC Davis.
