Maya Dutta Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Maya Dutta was named the Mountain West Women's Freshman of the Week following her performance against Weber State, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Dallas native made her spring debut against the Wildcats, earning victories in both doubles and singles play.

Playing in the No. 1 doubles position, Dutta and partner Zdena Safarova defeated Jessical Hill and Aleksandra Bozinovska 6-1. Dutta then squared off with Weber State's Yangpingan Li at the No. 2 singles position, earning a 6-1, 6-3 victory over the senior.

This is the first MW weekly award the Broncos have claimed since Pauline Ernstberger garnered player of the week honors on Feb. 7, 2024, and the first time Boise State has earned a MW Freshman of the Week award since Lorelyz Marruffo on Feb. 22, 2023.

Boise State (1-0) will host Idaho State (0-0) and Lewis-Clark State (0-0) in a doubleheader this Saturday at Noon and 6 p.m. MT, followed by a matchup with Gonzaga (2-0) Sunday at 11 a.m. at Boas Indoor Tennis Center.
