Hassanein Invited to Play in East-West Shrine Bowl

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State defensive end Ahmed Hassanein was a member of the West roster in the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl, which will be played at 6 p.m. MT on Thursday, Jan. 30. The game is held in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. It will be broadcast nationally on NFL Network. Hassanein, who received an invitation to the NFL Combine, has elected not to play in the Shrine Bowl.
Hassanein concluded his Boise State career by earning College Football Network All-America honorable mention and All-Mountain West first team selection. He totaled 17 quarterback hits, third-most in the FBS, and 62 total pressures, fifth-most in the nation. He collected 9.5 sacks, tied for 16th in the FBS, and 15.5 tackles for loss, tied for 17th in the country.
Hassanein is one of three finalists for Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year, which will be awarded Feb. 12 at a ceremony in Arlington, Texas. In 2023, Hassanein was a second team Academic All-America selection by College Sports Communicators. He finished his junior campaign with 12.5 sacks, ranking sixth in the nation. The captain totaled 24 sacks during his Bronco career, ranking fourth in program history.
This is the 100th edition of the East-West Shrine Bowl. The game brings together the best college football players to show off their skills in front of NFL scouts, coaches and executives from all 32 teams.
