
Eight Broncos Named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District

BOISE, Idaho – A program-record eight Boise State football players earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, the organization announced. Michael Callahan, Tyler Crowe, Maddux Madsen, Marco Notarainni, Chase Penry, Alexander Teubner, Luke Voorhees and Matt Wagner were the Broncos recognized for their athletic and academic achievements.
Callahan maintains a 3.95 GPA while pursuing his masters of business administration. This is his third CSC Academic All-District honor. The defensive tackle finished the year with 19 total tackles, including 1.5 sacks, and one blocked field goal. He is also a four-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and a member of the 2023-24 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.
Crowe is also pursuing his masters of business administration and holds a 3.96 GPA. This is the second time he has been named CSC Academic All-District. The fullback carried the ball 28 times for 129 yards and three touchdowns this season, running for an 8-yard score in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. He is a five-time MW Scholar-Athlete and was a nominee for the 2023 Burlsworth Trophy.
Madsen is majoring in interdisciplinary studies and boasts a 3.90 GPA. This is his first CSC Academic All-District award. He led the MW in passing yards (3,018) and touchdowns (23) while adding 221 rushing yards and five touchdowns. The quarterback was a member of the Davey O'Brien Award Class of 2024 and earned honorable mention All-MW. He is a two-time MW Scholar-Athlete and three-time MW Player of the Week.
Notarainni is a business major and maintains a 3.95 GPA. This is the first time he has been named CSC Academic All-District. The linebacker made 60 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He also recovered two fumbles, tied for most in the MW. He is a two-time All-MW selection, including a first team nod this year. He is also a three-time MW Scholar-Athlete.
Penry holds a 3.58 GPA and is earning a degree in accountancy. This is also his first CSC Academic All-District honor. The wide receiver caught 14 passes for 164 yards, including a career-long 42-yard reception in a 62-30 win over Utah State on Oct. 5. He was named a MW Scholar-Athlete last season.
Teubner is majoring in psychology and has a 3.62 GPA.This is his third year being recognized as CSC Academic All-District. He totaled 57 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception this season. The team captain is a two-time All-MW selection and was the 2023 MW Championship Defensive MVP. He is also a five-time MW Scholar-Athlete and was named a semifinalist for the 2024 Campbell Trophy.
Voorhees maintained a 3.95 GPA as he earned his degree in entrepreneurship. This marks his first CSC Academic All-District award. The tight end appeared in all 14 games for the Broncos, primarily contributing on special teams. He is a three-time MW Scholar-Athlete and received the department's Academic Excellence award as the graduating student-athlete with the highest GPA.
Wagner holds a perfect 4.00 GPA as he pursues a degree in business. He is also a first-time CSC Academic All-District honoree. The tight end caught 10 passes for 108 yards. Eight of his receptions gained first downs. He was named a MW Scholar-Athlete in 2024.
Boise State's total of eight honorees tops the previous school record of seven, achieved in 2022. Callahan, Crowe and Teubner were also recognized that season. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 and appear in at least 90 percent of games or start at least 66 percent of games throughout the season.
