Boise State Athletics and ExtraMile Arena will align management and operations of the on-campus venue

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State University announced today that ExtraMile Arena management and operations will formally integrate with Boise State Athletics, streamlining operations and creating new opportunities for the university, student-athletes, coaches, and staff, and the greater Treasure Valley community. Previously, the facility operated as its own auxiliary facility on Boise State's campus.

Built in 1982 as The Pavilion, and currently named ExtraMile Arena, the facility has long served as one of the region's premier venues, hosting concerts, community events, commencement ceremonies, NCAA basketball tournaments, and Boise State athletic events. With this transition, traditional university and community events such as convocation and graduations will continue to be held in the arena.

"By aligning ExtraMile Arena with Athletics, we're enhancing efficiency and expanding how we think," said Interim President Jeremiah Shinn. "By bringing together the strengths of ExtraMile Arena and Boise State Athletics, we can maximize our resources and create new opportunities for our students, our campus community and Idaho."

The move also supports Boise State Athletics' recently launched What's Next Initiative 2.0, designed to identify new and impactful revenue generation opportunities. By aligning ExtraMile Arena with Athletics, the university will ensure a cohesive strategy for maximizing the facility's role in advancing both the department and the campus community.

"We're excited to bring together the ExtraMile Arena and Boise State Athletics teams," said Jeramiah Dickey, Boise Director of Athletics. "This is a huge opportunity, from generating new revenue to support our 350+ Boise State student-athletes, 18 sport programs and our campus, to further enhancing the gameday and overall arena experience for Bronco Nation and visitors to the Treasure Valley. It takes a TEAM, and we're grateful for everyone in this process to help set up Boise State for more success in the modern-day landscape of college athletics."

"ExtraMile Arena has been a pillar for community and campus engagement and economic impact for decades. We are excited for What's Next and how we together can elevate the facility to meet the future needs of student athletes, the student body and our community for decades to come," said Lisa Cochran, Executive Director of ExtraMile Arena.

ExtraMile Arena has a basketball seating capacity of 12,380 and features a center-hung video board, LED ribbon boards and concert-grade sound system. It is the site of home games for Boise State men's and women's basketball as well as gymnastics.

ExtraMile Arena houses a dedicated athletic training facility along with an auxiliary practice gym that connects the facility with the Arguinchona Basketball Complex. The facilities serve as the day-to-day home of Boise State men's and women's basketball, which includes team and coach locker rooms, team lounges, film rooms, study areas and kitchens.

ExtraMile Arena has hosted thousands of memorable events in its more than 40 years of service, from championship athletic events to first-class entertainment. Today's announcement represents the next chapter in the arena's storied history, ensuring it continues to thrive as a hub for students, alumni, fans, and the Treasure Valley.
