Broncos Take Down Reigning PEC Champs

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State Valorant remained unbeaten in Power Esports Conference play Monday night, defeating longtime rival and reigning PEC champion Michigan State in convincing fashion. The win marked the Broncos' first victory over the Spartans since last season's upper-bracket championship loss and extended their record to 3–0.

The match up carried added weight after the two programs met four times last season, splitting the series 2–2. Boise State entered the rematch determined to reclaim momentum behind the starting lineup of Marshall Hainer (Daimyo), Wyatt Morrison (Master), Griffin Applegate (Skelesis), Kosmos Sutter (Kos), and Peter Mittelbrun (Skies).

Early on, it appeared the script might repeat itself. Michigan State surged ahead 5–1 on the opening map, Lotus, before Boise State steadied and adjusted. The Broncos rallied to even the score 6–6 at halftime, then dominated the second half — taking 12 of the final 14 rounds to secure a 13–7 win.

That momentum carried straight into Map 2 on Abyss. Boise State's defense proved nearly unbreakable, jumping out to a 9–3 lead at the half. At one point, the Broncos had claimed 22 of the previous 27 rounds, showcasing their cohesion and control. Michigan State managed a late push to make it 13–10, but the outcome was never in doubt as Boise State closed the series 2–0.

While the final scoreline appeared close, the Broncos dictated pace and tempo throughout, exorcising last season's championship loss and reaffirming their place among the PEC's elite.
