Strong Second Half Propels Broncos Past Chaminade

11/27/2025 1:30:00 AM | Men's Basketball

LAHAINA, Hawaii — Drew Fielder made history on Wednesday night and led Boise State to a 102-76 victory over Chaminade in the final game of the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational.

As a team, the Broncos (5-3) shot 60 percent from the field, making 39-of-64 field goal attempts. The performance marks the 18th time in program history Boise State made at least 60 percent of its field goals in a single game.

Fielder set career highs in points (27), rebounds (14) and field goals (12). He became the first Mountain West player in conference history to record 25+ points and 14+ rebounds while shooting at least 90 percent from the field.

Andrew Meadow tallied 16 points and tied his season high with eight rebounds. Javan Buchanan totaled 14 points, six rebounds and three assists, and Pearson Carmichael equaled his career high with seven boards while adding 12 points, two assists and one steal off the bench.

Chaminade (2-4) had four players score in double figures. Roland Banks II and Kent King and Kris King led the way, with each player having 11 points apiece.

Offense was aplenty at the outset of Wednesday's game. The Broncos and Silverswords combined to make 7-of-13 field goal attempts in the opening four minutes.

Following the initial media timeout, Boise State used an 8-2 run to open up an eight-point lead. The Broncos' bench accounted for all the offense during the stretch, giving the team an 18-10 advantage with 11:41 to play in the half.

Benefitting from a 2-for-11 offensive drought by Chaminade, Boise State extended its lead to double figures halfway through the period. The Broncos led by as many as a baker's dozen in the frame, but Chaminade significantly trimmed its deficit with a 10-0 run spanning two minutes.

The Silverswords pulled to within two late in the session, but never tied or retook the lead. Despite 10 turnovers in the half, Boise State led for 17 of the 20 minutes and were up four at the intermission.

Totaling 12 of 16 points to start the second half, the Broncos created some separation. Three different players scored and Boise State forged ahead, 56-44, with 15:24 remaining in the game.

From then on, the game was never in doubt. Late in the contest, the Broncos opened up a 26-point lead, as a result of a 59-point second half.
