BOISE, Idaho – Boise State was selected as the Mountain West preseason favorite for the third time in as many years, the conference announced. The Broncos collected 27 of a possible 30 points, garnering a pair of first-place votes. Utah State was second with 24 points and a first-place vote, followed by San Jose State, which tallied 21 points and a first-place vote. Air Force rounded out the group with 12 points. Coaches could not vote for their own teams.
"We're beyond excited to be picked first in the Mountain West preseason poll," said head coach Tina Bird. "It really speaks to the hard work our athletes and staff put in and it gives us even more motivation as we head into the season."
The Broncos won the inaugural MW Championships in 2024 and were regular season conference champions in 2025. Bird has been named MW Coach of the Year both seasons and Boise State has accounted for five yearly accolades across two years. Kristina Shchennikova is responsible for one of the awards, winning MW Co-Freshman of the Year in 2025. She also earned All-MW Second Team on bars. Joining Shchennikova on the all-conference team last year were two floor athletes, Blake Pascal (first team) and Bridget Kemp (second team).
Boise State begins the 2026 campaign on Jan. 9, competing in a dual at Southern Utah at 6:30 p.m. This year, the Broncos host three regular season meets and the 2026 MW Championships. Boise State welcomes Air Force, Utah State and Sacramento State at 7 p.m. on Jan. 30. The Blue and Orange are also in action at 7 p.m. on Feb. 6, hosting San Jose State, Oregon State and UC Davis. The Broncos and Southern Utah face off in another dual at 6 p.m. on March 13, competing in ExtraMile Arena. New season tickets are on sale here. Single-meet ticket information will be available soon. The 2026 MW Championships will be held March 21 at 6 p.m. Ticket information will be provided closer to the date of competition.
