
Boise State Earns Three Mountain West Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Emily Lopez and Kristina Shchennikova each garnered Mountain West weekly honors following their performances against San Jose State on Feb. 14.

Lopez earned Bars Specialist of the Week while Shchennikova picked up Beam Specialist of the Week and Freshman of the Week.

The specialist of the week honor is awarded to the highest-scoring athlete in each event weekly, while freshman of the week is given to the freshman with the highest score among all events.

Lopez scored a season-high 9.950 on bars to earn the event title against San Jose State, her 17th of her career. She picked up the highest bars score in the MW this season and tied for 10th in the nation. This marks Lopez's 14th MW Specialist of the Week award and ninth on bars.

Shchennikova earned her fourth and fifth specialist of the week honors. She collected her second beam and third freshman accolade. Shchennikova matched her career-high on beam with a 9.900 to earn her her second-straight beam title. The freshman also notched a career-high 9.900 on bars for a silver-medal finish.

Boise State gymnastics returns to action on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. MT. The Broncos will take on Utah State in Logan, Utah, and the meet will be streamed on the MW Network.
