FRESNO, Calif. — Behind a game-high 22-point performance by Andrew Meadow, Boise State beat Fresno State, 66-61, on Saturday evening at Save Mart Center.

The Broncos (21-8, 13-5 Mountain West) have won eight of their last nine games and have collected consecutive road wins. Fresno State (5-24, 1-17 MW) has lost 11 consecutive games and are 4-9 at home.

In addition to his 22 points, Meadow grabbed six rebounds in over 36 minutes of game action. Tyson Degenhart notched his 11th career double-double and posted 14 points, 11 rebounds and two steals.

Alvaro Cardenas filled the stat sheet and registered 10 points, nine rebounds and six assists. He needs one assist to reach 200 on the season.

Three players scored in double figures for Fresno State led by Jasir Tremble, who had a team-high 19 points. Brian Amuneke tallied 17 while Zaon Collins had 14 points and six rebounds.

Saturday's game featured a slow offensive start as the Broncos and Bulldogs combined for just 10 points in the opening five minutes. Trading baskets over the next 120 seconds, the two teams poured in 13 total points and Fresno State led, 12-11, upon reaching the first media timeout.

Boise State began the game making three of its first 16 shots from the floor. The Broncos didn't record their first two-point basket until the 8:04 mark of the first half.

The opening 12 minutes was nip-and-tuck as there were two ties and eight lead changes. In that span, the largest advantage for either team was six, with each unit having the lead for 5:35 apiece.

With 4:12 remaining in the period, Boise State erased its two-possession deficit. Degenhart converted an old-fashioned three-point play, putting the Broncos ahead, 23-21.

Locking in defensively in the final six minutes of the half, Boise State surrendered just five points to Fresno State. The Broncos allowed just one three-pointer and a pair of free throws.

Leading the way for Boise State was Meadow, who paced all players with 12 first-half points. Collectively, the team shot just 29 percent (8-28 FGs) but led by one at the intermission.

The overwhelming majority of the second half was tightly contested and within one possession. For the first 17 minutes of the frame, neither team owned a lead larger than three.

It wasn't until the 1:15 mark when Boise State pushed its advantage to two possessions. Emmanuel Ugbo knocked down a floater in the lane to make it a 64-59 game.

Shooting only 38 percent (21-56 FGs) in the game, the Broncos made four of their final five field goals to seal the win. Boise State scored 10 of the final 12 points which aided the team to its 21st victory of the season.

With two days in between games, the Broncos will return home before heading to Colorado Springs. The Broncos will take on Air Force on Tuesday night with tip off slated for 7 p.m. MT on Mountain West Network.
