LAS VEGAS — Despite a second-consecutive 20-point performance by Tyson Degenhart, Boise State fell, 69-56, to Colorado State in the Mountain West Basketball Championship final on Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos (24-10) shot just 38.8 percent from the field in the game, including 33.3 in the first half. Colorado State (25-9) shot 50 percent from three in the game, making 12 of 24 attempts.

The Broncos began the game by holding Colorado State scoreless for the first five minutes. The Rams missed their first seven shots from the floor and trailed 6-0 upon reaching the first media timeout.

Out of the timeout, Colorado State rattled off seven consecutive points and 10 of the next 12. Aided by a 15-0 run over a five-minute span, Boise State's deficit swelled to 13.

Trailing by as many as 17 in the half, the Broncos closed the gap slightly before halftime. The Broncos scored 11 of the final 15 points in the frame to trim the deficit to 10.

Between the two teams, only 18 field goals were made in the opening 20 minutes. Boise State made just eight shots and was 2-for-10 from three.

Conversely, six of the Rams' 10 field goals were long balls. A pair of free throws by Clifford right before the expiration of the half, gave Colorado State a 32-22 advantage at the intermission.

Boise State tallied the first five points of the second half, but the Rams quickly responded with an 11-0 run to push its lead back to 16. Colorado State led by as many as 25 in the period and cruised to its second Mountain West tournament championship in program history.
