
Broncos Collect Four Mountain West Specialist of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Emily Lopez, Emma Loyim and Kristina Shchennikova each garnered Mountain West weekly honors following their performances against Air Force on Feb. 28.

Lopez earned Vault and Bars Specialist of the Week, Loyim received Beam Specialist of the Week while Shchennikova picked up Freshman of the Week.

The specialist of the week honor is awarded to the highest-scoring athlete in each event weekly, while freshman of the week is given to the freshman with the highest score among all events.

Lopez scored a season-high 9.900 on vault to earn her 11th title on the event of her career. She marked the first Bronco of the season to score at least a 9.900 on the apparatus. The fifth year also put up a 9.925 on bars to earn the title, marking her 18th of her career. Lopez now holds 16 MW specialist of the week honors.

Loyim earned her second beam title of the season, sixth of her career, as she scored a season-high 9.925. She now holds the highest score on the event among all Broncos. Loyim notched her seventh MW weekly accolade and second on beam.

Shchennikova secured her fourth freshman of the week honor, bringing her MW weekly award count to six. She recorded the second-highest score on bars for the Broncos, putting up a 9.875.

Boise State gymnastics will travel to Cedar City, Utah, to face Southern Utah. The meet will take place on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m.
