COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Maya Dutta was named both the Mountain West Player and Freshman of the Week following her performances against Minnesota and St. Thomas, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
This marks Dutta's first Player of the Week and third Freshman of the Week award this season. Her four total weekly honors are the most by a single player in program history, surpassing Pauline Ernstberger, who earned three in her career. Dutta is also the second player in Mountain West history to earn both awards in the same week, joining Kennedy Robinson of Nevada who achieved this feat in the 2024 season.
Dutta was the lone Bronco to finish the weekend 2-0 in both doubles and in singles. Dutta earned victories at the No.1 doubles position with partner Zdena Safarova, defeating Minnesota's Mia Liepert / Anali Kocevar 6-3, and St. Thomas's Marthe Degerges / Regina Talavera 6-0.
In singles, Dutta improved to 6-1 on the season, winning both of matches at the No. 2 spot in straight sets. She defeated Liepert of Minnesota 6-2, 6-3, and Caroline Lindahl of St. Thomas 6-3, 6-4.
Boise State (8-2) will host Utah Tech (0-8) and close out its non conference schedule this Sunday at 11 a.m. MT at Appleton Tennis Center, celebrating senior day.
