Luke Cushman, Reese Knox Earn Mountain West Weekly Honors

BOISE, Idaho — Luke Cushman and Reese Knox have been named Mountain West Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively, the conference announced on Thursday.

The duo's individual performances played a pivotal role in Boise State winning the UC Santa Barbara Gaucho Invitational, the team's first win of the fall or spring season. Collectively, the Broncos shot a season-best 841 (-23), with four golfers totaling scores under par.

Claiming victory for the first time in his career, Cushman fired a 207 (-9), his lowest cumulative total in his time at Boise State. He shot under par in each of the three rounds and birdied 14 holes.

After finishing fifth in Round 1, Cushman paced all golfers in the second 18 holes. He shot a 67 (-5), signifying his second-lowest score in a single round in his two years as a Bronco.

With the victory, Cushman has four, top-10 finishes in his career, including three in his sophomore campaign. In addition to winning the UCSB Gaucho Invitational, Cushman placed third (209, -7) in the Island Resort Intercollegiate and tied for eighth (209, -7) in the Loyola Intercollegiate.

Knox, a freshman, earned his first top 10 and top 25 finish. He previously ended the Oregon State Invitational tied for 30th, which was a personal best.

Starting the invitational strong, Knox totaled a 69 (-3) and was alone in fourth at the conclusion of Round 1. Across the 54 holes, Knox collected nine birdies and an eagle.

The Broncos return to action on April 14-15 for the final time in the regular season. Boise State will compete against the University of Idaho in the 2nd Annual Battle of Idaho.
