Gaines Named to Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Watch List

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State running back Sire Gaines was named to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Watch List, the Maxwell Football Club announced. The redshirt freshman is also featured on watch lists for the Comeback Player of the Year and Doak Walker Award.
Gaines appeared in three games last season, gaining 156 yards on 20 rushes and 44 yards on three receptions. He ran for a 38-yard touchdown and caught a 17-yard touchdown in Boise State's 56-45 season-opening win at Georgia Southern, earning Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors. Athlon Sports and Phil Steele tabbed him Preseason All-MW First Team.
