EUGENE, Ore. - Boise State showed its might, but ultimately fell to one of the top teams in the nation, losing to No. 2/2 Oregon 34-27.

The Broncos (0-1) led for the entire first half, but the Ducks (1-0) stormed back to claim the lead early in the third quarter. The two teams entered the final frame knotted at 24, but Oregon scored a touchdown with just under eight minutes playing. After Bol Bol recorded a critical third-down sack, the Boise State offense received the ball with 2:32 remaining, but weren't able to convert the comeback drive.

Fifth-year quarterback Maddux Madsen finished with three touchdown passes, ending the contest with 181 yards and completing 15 of his 29 pass attempts. Freshman Rasean Jones led the Broncos in receiving, hauling in four catches for 76 yards. Defensively, Travis Anderson recorded a career-high 11 tackles.

Boise State started off hot, marching down 75 yards on the opening possession to get on the scoreboard. The drive was capped with Madsen finding Cam Bates on a 13-yard touchdown reception.

The Ducks knotted the game at seven early in the second frame, converting on a 50-yard drive. After stalling on a three-and-out, Arthur de Boachie jumped on a muffed punt on the Oregon 38-yard line. On the very next play, Madsen found Sire Gaines for a 38-yard touchdown off a screen pass to give the Blue and Orange a seven-point lead with over 10 minutes to go in the half.

Oregon found the end zone right before the halftime break, heading into the locker room trailing 17-14. The Ducks jumped out of the half, scoring 10 consecutive points to hold a 24-17 advantage. Madsen and the Broncos responded, marching down the field for an 8-play, 75-yard drive capped by a fourth-down touchdown reception by Matt Wagner.

The Ducks opened the final frame with a field goal, and the Broncos matched with a 36-yard field goal with 8:45 left in the fourth. The Ducks responded on the ensuing drive, scoring two plays later off a 62-yard touchdown reception to take a 34-27 lead with 7:51 remaining.

The Broncos couldn't convert on the next drive, and Oregon looked to run the clock out. Bol halted the drive with a critical third-down sack, giving the offense a chance with 2:32 remaining. Boise State couldn't take advantage, ultimately falling 34-27.

- Maddux Madsen threw for three touchdown passes in the loss. He finished 15-of-29 with 181 passing yards.
- Rasean Jones led the team with 76 receiving yards.
- Travis Anderson totaled a team-high 11 tackles. The junior safety entered the game with seven total in his career.

- Maddux Madsen finished with three passing touchdowns, marking the seventh 3+ touchdown game of his career. He has had zero interceptions in all but one of those contests.
- Madsen moved up to seventh all-time in program history in career yards, finishing the game with 6,767. The fifth-year quarterback passed Hank Bachmeier (2019-22), who threw for 6,605 total yards.
- Rasean Jones finished with four catches and 76 yards, marking the ninth time in program history a freshman wide receiver has notched at least four catches and 75 yards.
- The Broncos are now 3-2 all-time against Oregon. Both losses have been one-possession games.

Boise State will host Memphis in its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 12. The game will broadcast nationally on USA Sports and will kick off at 4 p.m. MT.
