BROOKINGS, S.D. – Boise State volleyball came up short Friday night in Brookings, South Dakota, as the Broncos fell in three (25-18, 25-18, 25-22) to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The loss in the first of two matches this weekend between the programs moved Boise State to 7-3 overall, while SDSU improved to 6-2.

Boise State struggled to hit in all three sets against South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits used runs midway through the first and second sets to pull away from the Broncos to claim a pair of 25-18 set victories.

In the third set, Boise State found itself trailing early as the Jackrabbits pulled away by nine, then held off the Broncos' rally attempt that saw them close to within 24-22 late.

Layla Smith had five kills and a team-high five blocks.
