LARAMIE, Wyo. — Boise State nabbed its second-consecutive victory, defeating Wyoming, 81-65, on Tuesday night inside Arena-Auditorium.
Scoring 80-plus for the seventh time this season, nine Broncos (11-8, 3-5 Mountain West) scored at least two points. Andrew Meadow paced the team with 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting.
Drew Fielder totaled 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the game, while Dylan Andrews had 14 points with three made three-pointers. Javan Buchanan added 10 points in the victory.
Playing without Nasir Meyer, the team's second leading scorer at 13.7 points per game, Wyoming (11-8, 2-6 MW) was led by Leland Walker who tallied a game-high 30 points. He was the only Cowboy in double figures.
RJ Keene II opened the scoring for the Broncos, knocking down his third three-pointer in his last two games. Offense was scarce at the outset as both teams made just one field goal and combined to shoot 2-for-13 in the first four-plus minutes of the game.
Boise State trailed by five early on, but halfway through the period, the Broncos grabbed their first lead of the evening. Following the under-12 media timeout, Meadow capped an old-fashioned three-point play at the free throw line, giving the team a 9-8 advantage.
After seesawing back-and-forth to the tune of five lead changes, Boise State put together a run to create separation. Trailing 14-11, the Broncos pieced together a 13-0 run and turned a three-point deficit into a 10-point lead with 3:56 left to play in the half.
Boise State's offensive success and execution forced a prompt timeout by Wyoming, but after the stoppage, the Broncos' run continued. The team ultimately scored 18 unanswered points over a six-minute span which equated to a 29-14 advantage.
Catching fire around the eight-minute mark, Boise State wound up shooting 52 percent (15-for-29) in the first half and ended the period by scoring 27 of the final 31 points. Holding Wyoming to eight field goals and 18 points in frame, the Broncos 38-18 at the intermission.
Boise State began the second half by missing its first seven shots from the field. Taking advantage, Wyoming mounted a bit of a run and scored the first eight points to trim its deficit from 20 to 12.
The Cowboys made it a 12-point game on two occasions, but never inched closer. Finding his shot from deep, Meadow poured in three-consecutive field goals, including two three-pointers, for the Broncos to push the lead back to 20.
In total, Wyoming led for only nine minutes in the game. Boise State led by as many as 23 points in the contest and cruised to a 16-point victory.
