Grignac Named MW Player and Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State women's tennis player Carla Grignac was named Mountain West Player and Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Dakar, Senegal, native earned the Broncos' only point against No. 22 Washington, defeating Carina Syrtveit 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (6), at the No. 6 singles position.

The honor marks the first weekly award of Grignac's career and the first by a Bronco this season. She is the third player in MW history and the second player in program history to earn both honors in the same week.

Boise State (1-1) will host BYU (3-1) and Montana State (3-1) on Friday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. MT and 6 p.m., respectively, at the BOAS Indoor Tennis Center.
