Broncos Pick Up First Pac-12 Sweep Against Texas State

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball picked up its first Pac-12 conference sweep against Texas State 3-0 on Saturday.
The Bobcats (6-9, 1-3) kicked off the first set with four service aces in a row. The Broncos (10-6, 2-1) fought back with a kill from Sydney Dreves. Boise State used the momentum to maintain a balanced attack and chip away at Texas State's early lead.
The Broncos scored three back-to-back points off an error, a kill from Reese Weinert and a service ace from Jenelle Legates. The Blue and Orange tied it up at 10-10 with a solo block from Kendall Hastings. The two teams traded points until Boise State was able to pull ahead at 20-16. The Broncos fueled the run to secure the set one win 25-20.
Boise State and Texas State continued to trade blows in set two. The Broncos used their dominant offense and tallied 14 kills throughout the second set. The Bobcats charged into the lead at 20-17, but the Broncos answered to tie it up, 21-21, with a block from Hastings and Azlynn Tittmann. Boise State followed with four points in a row, including a service ace from Dreves for the set two win 25-21.
The Blue and Orange kept it close at the start, but increased its lead to 6-2 by scoring four-consecutive points. Boise State maintained its advantage with a strong attack, totaling 16 kills in set three. The Bobcats attempted to fight back late in the set, but the Broncos held steady to seal the sweep 25-18.

"I'm really proud of our response today after a tough loss on Thursday," head coach Shawn Garus said. "Our team had a very focused and spirited practice on Friday, and we were ready to go. We made a couple of changes in the lineup and the players embraced the change, and went out there to play one of the most complete matches of the season. I'm excited to get on the road next week and continue this effort against Utah State and Fresno State."
