Final Results

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Boise State women's golf team opened spring competition at Mountain Classic Match Play, dropping a pair of matches before finishing the tournament with a win over Weber State. Leia Chung, Macee Greenwood, Teal Matsueda and Brooke Patterson all won on the final day, while Annie Buffolino and Callia Ward both went 3-0 in the individual bracket.

First Round vs. Utah Valley (Utah Valley, 4-1-0)
The Broncos dropped the first round match to Utah Valley, 4-1-0. Greenwood tied the Wolverines' Maria Ortiz after winning by one stroke on the 18th hole. Buffolino, Ward and Jaime Hards each captured a victory in the individual bracket, with Hards taking a commanding 8 & 6 win over Wyoming's Erika Cook.

Second Round vs. Gonzaga (Gonzaga, 3-0-2)
Boise State fell on day two against Gonzaga, 3-0-2. Jillian Hui's default win gave the Broncos an early lead, then Matsueda added a 4 & 2 win over Esther Yoo after tallying a birdie on three of the final seven holes. Individually, Buffolino and Ward picked up their second wins, with Ward closing her 5 & 3 triumph over the Zags' Vanessa Zhang with four-straight birdies.

Third Round vs. Weber State (Boise State, 4-0-1)
Greenwood picked up Boise State's first win, a 4 & 3 victory over Jade Gruher. The senior birdied four of the final six holes, including three-straight to start the back nine. Chung rallied from an early deficit to pick up a 2 & 1 win over Braylyn Bayer, then Matsueda (2 & 0) and Patterson (1 & 0) each earned a victory to secure the match for the Broncos. Individually, Buffolino (4 & 2) and Ward (2 & 1) won to finish the week 3-0, while Hards added her second victory, a SCORE triumph.

Notables

Annie Buffolino and Callia Ward both finished 3-0 in the individual bracket.
Teal Matsueda finished the week 2-1, pushing her career record at Mountain Classic Match Play to 7-2.

What's Next
Boise State remains in California for the Alice & John Wallace Women's Golf Classic, Feb. 14-16. Hosted by Long Beach State, the tournament will be played at Monterey Country Club, also located in Palm Desert.
