WHAT'S NEXT: The Boise State women's golf team will continue competition in Palm Desert, California, playing in the Alice & John Wallace Women's Golf Classic. The Broncos will play at Monterey Country Club from Feb. 14-16.

THE FIELD: Boise State, Long Beach State (host), California, Denver, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, San Jose State, UC Riverside, UCLA, USC, Vanderbilt, Washington.

LAST TIME OUT: Boise State opened the spring season at Mountain Classic Match Play, falling to Utah Valley and Gonzaga before defeating Weber State. Leia Chung, Macee Greenwood, Teal Matsueda and Brooke Patterson all won on the final day, while Annie Buffolino and Callia Ward went 3-0 and Jaime Hards finished 2-1 in the individual bracket. Matsueda also earned a victory in the second round, giving her a career match play record of 7-2.

BACK LIKE SHE NEVER LEFT: Chung, a two-time Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week and the program's all-time leader in career scoring average, returned to competition at the Golfweek Fall Challenge after missing the 2024-25 season due to injury. She won the tournament, setting program and tournament records for a 54-hole score (199, -14). Chung finished nine strokes ahead of the field, tying the largest margin of victory in program history, set by Acey Erlandson in 1999.

TWO TITLES: Chung also captured the individual title at the New Mexico Golf Iconic Classic, firing a 207 (-9) and leading the Broncos to the team crown (851, -12). Boise State's team score was the second-best in school history and its 18-hole (276, -12) and 36-hole (561, -15) scores are the lowest in program history. Chung has three individual titles in her career, one shy of Samantha Martin's school record.

YEAR FIVE AT THE HELM: Head coach Kailin Downs is in her fifth season leading the Broncos. Through five fall tournaments, the team's scoring average is 292.67, the lowest in program history. In 2024, she guided the team to the second-lowest scoring average in program history (296.74) and set school records for lowest 36-hole score (566, -10) and lowest 54-hole score (846, -18). Downs recently signed a two-year contract extension, keeping her with the program through the 2028 season.

ALL-CONFERENCE RETURNER: Matsueda earned All-MW Second Team honors for the 2024-25 season, becoming the first Bronco since 2018-19 to receive all-conference recognition.

IN THE RECORD BOOK: Several players are featured prominently in the Boise State record book. Chung holds the second, fourth, and seventh-lowest individual 36-hole scores in program history while Jillian Hui is tied for fourth and Matsueda is tied for sixth. Chung's season average of 70.73 is the best in school history and Matsueda's average of 73.80 ranks seventh. Chung holds four of the top-six 36-hole scores in program history, with Hui (2), Matsueda (1) and Brooke Patterson (1) each recording at least one score in the top-10. Chung also boasts six of the top-nine 54-hole scores in school history, with Hui and Patterson tying for the fourth-best mark.
