BOISE, Idaho – Boise State gymnast Sydnie Whipple was named Mountain West Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced. She posted a career-high 9.875 on beam in the Broncos' dual at No. 10 California, leading the team to a season-high 49.150 score on the apparatus. Boise State earned a team score of 195.925, its second-best of the year.
Â
This is the first-career weekly conference award for Whipple, who is a local product from Meridian, Idaho. She is the second Bronco to earn a MW Freshman of the Week nod this season, joining two-time honoree Miraya Nero. This is the first time multiple Boise State gymnasts have been named MW Freshman of the Week in the same season. Whipple's award gives the Broncos six accolades between four athletes this year. Nero (beam), fifth year Blake Pascal (floor) and sophomore Kristina Shchennikova (beam) have each captured a MW Specialist of the Week crown.
Â
Whipple and the Broncos are in action twice this weekend, hosting a Senior Night dual against Southern Utah at 6 p.m. on March 13 before traveling to No. 10 Stanford for a 3 p.m. MT dual on March 15. Boise State will host the 2026 MW Championships in ExtraMile Arena at 6 p.m. on March 21.
