Five Broncos Collect All-Mountain West Honors

BOISE, Idaho – Five Boise State gymnasts received All-Mountain West second team honors as the conference announced its end of year awards. Senior Sydney Kho (beam), freshman Miraya Nero (all-around), fifth year Blake Pascal (floor), sophomore Kristina Shchennikova (bars) and junior Mahleea Werline (bars) were recognized for the Broncos.

Kho earned her first-career conference honor after tallying a beam NQS of 9.840, sixth-best in the MW. She closed the regular season with six-straight beam routines of 9.800 or higher, the program's longest streak since assistant coach Adriana Popp closed her career with eight-consecutive 9.800+ routines in 2024. Kho captured her first beam title on Senior Night, tallying a 9.850 on March 13. She followed with a career-best 9.900 effort at Stanford on March 15, tying the team's top beam score of the season. The senior, who also won a vault title this year, has been in Boise State's beam lineup in every meet since the start of her sophomore year and in the Broncos' vault lineup in all but two meets since joining the team, totaling 82-career routines.

Nero garnered All-MW selection after recording the conference's fifth-best all-around NQS at 38.830. She captured two all-around titles, becoming the first Bronco freshman to win an all-around crown since Courtney McGregor (2017). She is a three-time MW Specialist of the Week, earning a pair of Freshman of the Week awards and one Beam Specialist of the Week nod. Nero is tied for Boise State's top NQS on vault (9.780) while ranking third on the team on beam (9.795) and floor (9.820). She has a beam career-high of 9.900, tied for Boise State's top score this season, and a career-best of 9.850 on vault and floor. She is the first Bronco to earn all-conference honors as an all-around since McGregor and Shani Remme, who were selected in 2019. Nero is the first freshman to earn all-around all-conference honors for the Blue and Orange since Caitlin Mann and Kelsey Morris (2012).

Pascal was tabbed All-MW on floor for the second-straight year, registering the conference's fifth-highest floor NQS at 9.860. This is Boise State's highest NQS in any event. She has a pair of MW Floor Specialist of the Week accolades, earning the first after winning the floor crown at San Jose State on March 1 and the other after tallying a career-best 9.925 at Stanford, tied for the Broncos' highest score in any event this year. The fifth year has five routines of 9.850+ this season, putting her career total at 16. She has five 9.900+ routines in her career, including two this season, and five-career floor titles. With her first-team selection last year, Pascal becomes the first Bronco to earn all-conference honors on floor in back-to-back seasons since Courtney Blackson (2023-24).

Shchennikova collected All-MW second team honors on bars for the second-straight season, tying for fourth in the conference with a 9.845 NQS. She has the team's top bars score of the year, posting a career-high 9.925 at California on March 7. This is tied for the Broncos' best individual event score of the 2026 campaign and is the second-best bars mark in the MW this season. She captured her first-career bars title in a Feb. 6 home quad, tallying a 9.875. She has six 9.800+ bars routines in the last seven meets, including three-straight 9.850+ performances. The sophomore earned MW Beam Specialist of the Week after posting a career-high 9.900 at the Metroplex Challenge on February 15, marking her ninth-career weekly accolade, most on the team. On March 13, Shchennikova added a career-best 9.900 on floor, making her one of three MW gymnasts to score 9.900 or higher in at least three events this year. She is the first Bronco to be named all-conference on bars as a freshman and sophomore since Emily Lopez (2021-22).

Werline was named All-MW for the first time in her career after tying for sixth in the conference with a bars NQS of 9.835. In a March 13 home dual, she earned her first-career event title with a career-high 9.900 routine. She followed that with a 9.850 at Stanford on March 15, her fifth-straight bars performance of 9.850 or higher. This is the longest streak by a Bronco since Emily Lopez had 11-straight 9.850+ routines from 2023-24. Werline is a stalwart in the Broncos' bars lineup, appearing in all 36 meets since joining the team. Boise State's five selections on the all-conference second team are the most since 2010, when seven Broncos were recognized. The Blue and Orange are tied for second in the conference with five student-athletes selected to the 2026 All-MW teams.
