COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State women's tennis swept the Mountain West weekly awards, as Zdena Safarova was named Player of the Week and Carla Grignac earned Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced Wednesday.
Â
The pair is the third duo from a MW program to sweep the weekly awards this season. The honor marks the third player of the week award for Safarova, which is a conference season high, and the second freshman of the week recognition for Grignac.
Â
Safarova had a dominant weekend, winning all four of her matches between No. 1 singles and doubles. Against Air Force, she clinched the Broncos' 4-3 victory, rallying from a first-set loss to win 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. She followed with a straight-set win over New Mexico at No. 1 singles. Across her two doubles victories, she dropped just four total games.
Â
Grignac recorded three wins on the weekend, including two at No. 6 singles and one at No. 3 doubles. Both singles victories, against Air Force and New Mexico, came in straight sets (6-1, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-4, respectively). She and partner Lorelyz Marruffo added a 6-3 doubles win against New Mexico.
Â
Boise State will compete in its final match of the 2026 season April 17 in Logan, Utah, against Utah State at 11 a.m. MT. A win would clinch at least a share of the MW regular-season championship.
