BOISE, Idaho – Boise State redshirt junior Leia Chung added another accolade to her historic 2025-26 campaign, winning the Kim Moore Spirit Award. Presented annually by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, the award honors a student-athlete or coach who exemplifies a great spirit toward the game of golf, a positive attitude on and off the golf course, being a role model for her team and mental toughness in facing challenges. Chung, who missed the entire 2024-25 season due to injury, was the Mountain West individual champion and NCAA Regional qualifier this season.

"I'm extremely honored to have received the Kim Moore Spirit Award! Her story and purpose behind the award are amazing and to be recognized in a way that reflects her values and spirit means so much to me," said Chung. "I am so grateful for everyone who supported and encouraged me along the way and will continue to strive for the best."

"When you hear the description of the Kim Moore Spirit Award, it summarizes Leia's year and her comeback from her injury perfectly," said head coach Kailin Downs. "I can't think of someone more deserving and I'm so proud that her name and story will forever be etched in the WGCA record books with Kim Moore's name."

Chung's title at the MW Championship was her third of the season, setting a program record. She opened the year with a school-record 199 (-14), winning the Golfweek Fall Challenge. She also captured the individual crown at the New Mexico State Golf Iconic Classic, firing a 207 (-9) and leading the Broncos to the team title. Her season scoring average of 72.24 is the second-best in program history and she notched the second-most top-25 finishes in school history (8). Chung earned All-MW first team honors, becoming the first Boise State player to do so, and was the third golfer in program history to qualify for an NCAA Regional. She fired a 217 (+4) at the Stanford Regional, tying for 24th, the best regional score and finish by a Bronco.

Chung is the first Boise State player to win the Kim Moore Spirit Award, which has been presented since 2005. It is dedicated to Kim Moore, who was a golfer at the University of Indianapolis from 1999-2003 and persevered through many physical challenges while playing collegiate golf. She has continued to leave her mark on the game, coaching the women's golf team at Western Michigan since 2020 and winning the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open in 2022.
