BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Athletics announced plans to honor one of the greatest players in college football history with a permanent bronze statue of Bronco legend Kellen Moore outside Albertsons Stadium.
Â
Randy and Lisa Hales along with Capital Eleven provided the support for the statue with a transformative gift to Boise State Athletics.
Â
"Kellen Moore represents what it means to be a Bronco," said Director of Athletics Jeramiah Dickey. "His leadership, humility, competitiveness, and commitment to excellence helped define an era of Bronco football that inspired fans across the country. This statue will forever celebrate his impact on our program and help tell the story of Boise State football to the thousands who visit Albertsons Stadium and The Blue every year. We're incredibly grateful to Randy and Lisa Hales and Capital Eleven for helping make this happen with their continued support of Boise State."
Â
"Kellen Moore gave Boise State many unforgettable moments on the field, while also representing the values that make this university special: humility, leadership, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to excellence," said Randy Hales. "Lisa and I appreciate the Capital Eleven team joining us to fund this statue to preserve a legacy that continues to inspire every Bronco fan who walks through Albertsons Stadium."
Â
Moore will also be honored, alongside Aston Jeanty, with orange sideline hash marks on the new Blue Turf at the 2-yard and 11-yard lines, on all corners of the field, in reference to the jersey numbers that Jeanty and Moore wore as Broncos.
Â
Few players have left a mark on college football like Moore. A four-time first-team All-American and Boise State's first Heisman Trophy finalist, he led the Broncos to an astonishing 50-3 record as a starting quarterback, which are the most wins by any starting quarterback in college football history. Moore later won the Super Bowl as offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2024 season and now serves as head coach of the New Orleans Saints. He was inducted into the Boise State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
Â
The statue was unveiled in concept during the Pac-12 Launch Party, giving fans their first look at the tribute that will commemorate one of the defining figures in Boise State history.
Â
Renowned local sculptor Ben Victor has already begun transforming that vision into bronze. The statue, which, after installation, will measure over 11-feet tall, captures Moore in his iconic left-handed windup, on blue turf, in full Boise State uniform, and features levels of detail that represent the specific era of Boise State football. The statue itself is 1.5-times life size, towering over 9-feet tall.
Â
The statue will stand near the northeast entrance of Albertsons Stadium adjacent to the Bleymaier Football Center and in front of the new North End Zone, creating a lasting gathering place where future generations of Broncos can celebrate one of the program's greatest champions.
Â
The target date of installing the Moore statue is during the upcoming football season.
Â
Moore's statue is the second around Albertsons Stadium as it joins Lyle Smith's statue in front of the Allen Noble Hall of Fame.
