Boise State Alums Aldridge and Merritt Set to Compete in Albertsons Boise Open

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State alums Tyler Aldridge and Troy Merritt will compete in the 37th Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron.
Hosted by Hillcrest Country Club, an 18-hole championship course, the annual event begins tomorrow and runs through Aug. 16. The Boise Open is 1-of-25 Korn Ferry Tour tournaments and will feature top players from the tour.
Aldridge, who last competed in the Boise Open in 2017, is participating in the event via sponsor exemption. The exemption comes via Jeff Sanders Entertainment (JSE), who is allotted two spots in the event.
Also playing in this year's Boise Open is Merritt, who was inducted into the Boise State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024. A 2008 All-American and WAC Golfer of the Year, Merritt finished his Boise State career with 15 top-10 finishes and the best individual scoring average (min. 45 rounds) in program history.
The total purse for the Boise Open is expected to be substantial, with the outright winner receiving 18 percent of the final amount. Aldridge, a Nampa native and two-time high school state champion in Idaho, will donate any earnings as a charitable contribution to local organizations.
Following each round of golf on the first three days, there will be a musical performance by an accomplished and award-winning artist. Nelly will perform on Aug. 13, followed by Counting Crows and HARDY, who will grace the stage on Aug. 14 and 15, respectively.
