Hansen Named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State volleyball sophomore Amelia Hansen has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Hansen, a transfer from SMU, earned the honor after recording a total of 19 blocks and 29 kills against No. 25 BYU, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's and Eastern Washington. Additionally, she was named Boise State Invitational MVP after posting 17 blocks and 21 kills during the tournament.
The sophomore outside hitter posted seven blocks per match against Sacramento State and Saint Mary's.
Hansen is currently ranked eighth in the Pac-12 for blocks with a total of 30. She also helped Boise State collect their third-consecutive sweep at the Boise State Invitational and sixth sweep of the season.
The conference honor marks the second Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week this season for the Broncos and the first of Hansen's career. Melia Barlow earned the first Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1.
Boise State volleyball will travel to Pocatello, Idaho for the Orange and Black Classic Sept. 17-19. The Broncos will face Wyoming, Pacific and Idaho State. The Blue and Orange will return home for its Pac-12 opener against Gonzaga on Sept. 24 in ExtraMile Arena.
