Matt Miller joined the coaching staff at his alma mater in Jan. 2020 and was elevated to co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach in Jan. 2025. He was originally hired as the wide receivers coach and spent five seasons in that role before being promoted.

Miller, a former all-conference wideout for the Broncos, helped Boise State finish the 2024 season ranked eighth in the country after it reached the CFP Quarterfinal at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and captured the second Mountain West championship in as many years.

The offense was the fuel to the nationally-ranked operation in 2024, highlighted by being ranked eighth in the country in total offense and fifth in scoring offense. Miller and the group of wide receivers totaled 168 catches, led by all-conference honorable mention Cameron Camper who had a team-high 58 receptions and 903 receiving yards.

In 2021, Miller mentored All-Mountain West First Team honoree Khalil Shakir. The wide receiver led the team in receptions (77), yards receiving (1,117) and touchdowns receiving (seven) and registered four 100-yard receiving games during the season.

Shakir finished his Bronco career ranked fourth in yards receiving (2,878), fifth in receptions (208), tied for sixth in 100-yard receiving games (10) and tied for ninth in touchdown receptions (20).

During the 2020 season, Shakir, a Pro Football Focus Honorable Mention All-American, recorded 52 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns. He added 148 rushing yards and was one of only two players nationally with 700 yards receiving and 100 yards rushing this season. He led the Mountain West and was 10th nationally with 7.43 receptions per game.

Prior to Boise State, Miller coached at Montana State from 2016-19. He coached wide receivers from 2016 until being promoted to offensive coordinator midway through the 2018 season. He was also the Bobcats’ recruiting coordinator from 2017 until his promotion. Montana State reached the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs in 2018 and 2019.

In 2019, Montana State led the Big Sky and was eighth nationally in rushing offense (258.1 yards per game). The Bobcats were 25th in the country in total offense (426.5 yards per game).

A native of Helena, Mont., Miller began his career as an offensive quality control assistant at Boise State in 2015.

He repeated as an all-conference selection in 2013 and was the MVP of the 2013 Hawaii Bowl. As a senior, Miller was part of another Mountain West championship team, a squad that defeated Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl.

Miller ended his playing career as Boise State’s career leader in receptions (244) while ranking second in receiving yards (3,049) and third in receiving touchdowns (29).

He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Boise State in 2014 and is married to the former Sarah Baugh, a standout volleyball student-athlete for the Broncos from 2012-15.
