Michael Johnson enters his first season as the director of basketball operations after joining Boise State in July 2022.
Johnson is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the basketball office, including travel and equipment arrangements. Johnson also serves as the director for all Bronco men’s basketball institutional camps and clinics.
Prior to joining Boise State, Johnson spent three seasons serving as the director of basketball operations at Utah Valley.
Johnson joined the Wolverines after working the two years as an assistant coach at the College of Idaho. During his two seasons at the College of Idaho, Johnson helped lead the Yotes to two-straight Cascade Conference Tournament titles and a pair of semifinal appearances at the NAIA Division II National Championship, as well as a No. 1 ranking for the first time since 1992.
A native of Eagle, Idaho, Johnson played golf at Weber State. He was a two-time team captain and named the WSU Male Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior. He spent one season as a student manager and assistant with the Wildcats, helping the program to a conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015-16. He also spent a year as an assistant with boy’s basketball at Eagle High School in 2016-17.
Johnson earned a bachelor's degree from Weber State in business administration in 2015. He is married to his wife, Katie.
