Tyler Whitmer rejoined the Boise State Athletics staff in May 2026 as the Associate AD, Performance and Culture. He was a member of Boise State Athletics from 2018 to 2025.

In his new role, Whitmer oversees all aspects of men's basketball sports performance and serves as the team's sport administrator. His role expands beyond sports performance, as he builds and leads a strong unified culture across all Boise State athletic programs.

Whitmer is tasked with working closely with coaches and staff to support athlete and team development. He’s also a member of Boise State's senior staff administrative team.

Previously with the Broncos, Whitmer oversaw sports performance for Olympic sports. He also managed the athlete development for men's basketball and men's tennis and was the sport administrator for men's tennis. With men's basketball, he was the sports performance coach during three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2021 to 2023.

With men's tennis, Whitmer was a part of a staff that helped the team win three conference championships and make three NCAA Tournament appearances. Prior to men's basketball, Whitmer worked with Boise State women's basketball and was a part of three conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances from 2018-20.

Whitmer started at Boise State in January 2018 and worked his way from associate director (2018) to director of sports performance (2018-22) to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance Health and Wellness, Olympic Sports Performance (2022-25).

In addition to Boise State, Whitmer has had stops at Oral Roberts (2013-18), MidAmerica Nazarene (2012-13) and Denver (2011). He most recently worked for Teamworks.

Whitmer has a master's degree in exercise physiology from Kansas and a bachelor's degree in sports medicine from Colorado State.
