Jackie Robinson joined the Boise State women’s basketball staff in the summer of 2024 and serves primarily as the Broncos’ posts coach, as well player development. Robinson came to Boise State after five seasons as the head coach at Evergreen State.
Since joining the Broncos, Robinson has played a key role in the development of the team’s post players, including two-time Mountain West All-Conference selection Tatum Thompson. As a junior, Thompson led Boise State with 13.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, scoring in double figures in 24 contests. Entering her senior season, Thompson was named the MW Preseason Player of the Year and delivered a standout campaign, averaging a team-high 14.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. She shot 47.9% from the field, the highest mark in the conference, and recorded five double-doubles while helping lead the Broncos to the semifinal round of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship.
Robinson also helped oversee the development of Libby Hutton, who made a significant jump from her freshman to sophomore season. Hutton more than tripled her scoring and rebounding averages, finishing the 2025-26 campaign with 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She earned Mountain West All-Tournament honors after recording a career-high 25 points in the semifinal round of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship against Air Force.
Before joining Boise State, Robinson spent five seasons as the head coach at Evergreen State. When he took over the program, the Geoducks were coming off an 0-22 season and had just six players on the roster. Robinson helped rebuild the program and guided Evergreen State to the opening round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament in each of his final two seasons.
Prior to Evergreen State, Robinson served as the head women’s basketball coach at Olympia High School in Olympia, Wash., where he compiled a 51-44 record and earned two Coach of the Year honors. He previously spent four seasons as the head coach at River Ridge High School, posting a 71-31 record and earning two additional Coach of the Year awards. In eight seasons as a high school head coach, Robinson compiled a combined record of 122-75.
Robinson also brings extensive playing experience to Boise State. He began his collegiate career at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala., before finishing at Evergreen State. During the 2000-01 season, he earned all-conference honorable-mention honors while averaging 8.8 points per game. As a senior, he helped lead the Geoducks to the program’s first NAIA National Tournament appearance, averaging 6.7 points per game.
After graduating in 2002, Robinson played professionally in Germany and Switzerland before beginning his coaching career in women’s basketball following his playing career.
Robinson lives in Boise with his wife, Kelci, and their two children, Kienan and Cinaiya.
