Patty Jo Resnick has been an assistant coach with the Boise State gymnastics team since 2006. Her primary responsibilities include coaching both floor and beam, including choreography for each gymnast’s routine in the events.
Â
Resnick has been part of ten conference championships with the Broncos, including five-consecutive titles from 2015-19, the longest streak for a Boise State athletic program since the football team captured five-straight championships in the Western Athletic Conference from 2002-06.
Â
She also helped lead the Broncos to the inaugural Mountain West Championships in 2024, while breaking the team conference championships record for beam, scoring a 49.500.
Â
Resnick has coached 19 individual conference champions and six All-Americans honorees. Shani Remma earned first-team honors in 2018 and second-team honors in 2019, both on beam. Sandra Collantes, Krystine Jacobsen, Maddie Krentz earned second-team honors on floor, beam and floor, respectively, in 2016. Ciera Perkins earned second-team distinction on floor in 2014.
Â
The Broncos also reached the NCAA Regional in each of Resnick’s first 12 seasons, concluding the season ranked in the top 25 nationally each year. The streaks were put on pause in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the year prior to the conclusion of the regular season.
Â
The Broncos’ No. 13 final ranked in both 2011 and 2017 are the highest in program history. In 2019, Boise State closed the year with 12-consecutive weeks ranked in the top 15, the longest streak since Road to Nationals began publishing rankings in 1998.
Â
Boise State also set the team beam score record in 2019 with a 49.550 (Feb. 15, 2019), eclipsing a mark that had stood since Feb. 27, 2002.
Â
In 2016, Boise State concluded the regular season as the nation’s only undefeated team (15-0) across all divisions, and from Feb. 29, 2008 through March 7, 2019, the Broncos were undefeated at home in what is now known as ExtraMile Arena.
Â
Resnick is known as one of the nation's most talented and creative floor and beam choreographers. Her attention to detail and knowledge of technique help gymnasts perfect their skills and routines. She was honored by USA Gymnastics as a Master of Sport in 2014.
Â
Prior to Boise State, Resnick worked alongside her husband, Neil, running Flips USA Gymnastics, a club team in Sparks, Nev. In addition, she has served as a USAG clinician at the national training center and has choreographed routines for top gymnasts throughout the country. She also helped with the Junior Olympics for several years at the US Olympic training facility.
