Alex Venardos
Alex Venardos
Alex Venardos was named the program's third head coach on July 17, 2025 after serving as an assistant coach since the fall of 2019.

Venardos has been with the program during its rise to national prominence, coming off four consecutive 20+ win seasons. In 2025, Venardos helped guide the Broncos to their first NCAA National Championship appearance after claiming both a regular season and conference tournament title.

In 2024, the Broncos recorded a program-record 31 wins and appeared in the Southland Conference Championship for the second-straight season. Boise State spent the entire season receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll and won two duals over ranked opponents. The team’s entire starting lineup earned all-conference accolades, marking the first time a team has done that in league history.

Venardos was named to the 2023 class of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 Beach honorees after helping guide the program to a program-record 25 wins in his fourth season with the team.  The Broncos finished 25-10 and ended the season as the Southland Conference Runner-Up in their first season of conference play. He coached three pairs that garnered First Team All-SLC honors, the most of any team in the conference.

Prior to the 25-win season, Venardos helped the Broncos reach 20 wins for the first time in program history in his third year with the squad. The team finished 20-9 on the year, including sweeps at the Northwest Invitational in Salem, Ore., the Cal-State Northridge Tournament in Northridge, Calif., and the Utah Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. The team also went undefeated at their home tournament, including wins over both Washington and Oregon.

The team got a big win in the opening tournament of his second season, defeating No. 20 Arizona State 3-2 at the Cactus Classic in Tuscon, Ariz. The team finished the season 6-11, including two wins over Utah.

His first season as an assistant was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic in the spring of 2020. Unfortunately, the team was able to play only the opening weekend of the season before things were shutdown. The Broncos went 1-3 at the Cactus Classic in Tucson, Ariz., where two of their three losses came at the hands of 15th-ranked Arizona and No. 20 Arizona State.
