Track and Field All American, Boise State 1996-2000

Jarred Rome is the most honored individual track and field student-athlete in the history of the program at Boise State University. Six times, a Bronco record, Rome came away from a NCAA National Championship with an All-America award. Three of those came in the shot put — 1999, 2000 (indoor) and 2000 (outdoor) — while the other three were in the discus throw (1997, 1998 and 2000). His best NCAA finish came as a sophomore in 1997 when he placed second in the discus. Rome also captured three Big West Conference Championships in the discus, winning the title in 1997, 1998 and 2000. At the time of his induction, Rome continued to hold Boise State records in the indoor shot put at 62-6, the outdoor shot put at 63-11.75 and in the discus at 210-0. All three records were established during Rome’s senior season of 2000. Rome continued to compete at the international level following his graduation from Boise State and in 2004 reached the ultimate stage in his sport when he represented the United States in the discus throw at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Rome qualified for the Olympic Games when he won the 2004 United States National Championship at the Olympic Trials.
